Wilmington, NC — Dr. Amy Newberry, owner of Pelvic Prescription Physical Therapy & Wellness, will be a featured speaker at the Menopause Summit: Knowledge is Power, taking place on May 16, 2026, at the University of North Carolina Wilmington.
Hosted in collaboration with Avance Care and UNCW, the summit brings together healthcare professionals and community members to explore evidence-based insights on menopause, including symptoms, treatment options, and strategies to improve quality of life.
Dr. Newberry will present on Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause (GSM)—a highly prevalent yet often overlooked condition that affects the vaginal, urinary, and sexual health of women due to hormonal changes. GSM can include symptoms such as vaginal dryness, pain with intercourse, urinary urgency, and recurrent infections, and it often worsens over time without proper treatment.
As a pelvic floor physical therapist, Dr. Newberry’s work focuses on bridging the gap between traditional healthcare and the real-life experiences of women navigating menopause. Her session will provide practical, empowering education on understanding GSM, addressing symptoms, and exploring both medical and conservative treatment options—including pelvic floor therapy.
“Too many women are told their symptoms are just something they have to live with,” says Dr. Newberry. “This conversation is about changing that—giving women the knowledge, tools, and confidence to advocate for their health and feel good in their bodies again.”
